Artist statement
Sometimes I step into things by accident—into puddles, or into perceptions that surprise me. I play, discover, stumble, doubt, and follow a longing for other places that I must find or create myself. For this, I work with simple materials such as found objects, cardboard, sand, sugar, bones, or wood. With them, I try to knead systems and structures until they soften, stretch, break, or reassemble—even if some remain stubborn.
My interest in the world finds a place in art where I am allowed to ask questions without having to resolve them. Physical experiences in nature and my own teaching practice flow into my work. A central theme of my art is the relationship between human beings, material, and environment.
