AUSSAAT MÄRZ/APRIL (Sowing March/April)
2018
Installation
Dimensions: approx. L 1,90 x W 2 x H 1,60 m
Materials: cardboard cards, plastic film, insect pins, plastic bag, flower seeds

"Aussaat März/April" (Sowing March/April) presents a grid of 16 entomological specimen cards attached to the wall with thin insect pins. The cards are yellowed and carry small plastic envelopes in which dead butterflies were once kept. The now removed butterflies left ghostlike imprints on the cardboard, tracing the contours and patterns of their wings in shades of brown. Above each envelope, the Latin name of the respective butterfly is printed.
On the floor in front of the wall installation lies a plastic sack containing flower seeds. They are intended to be sown in March/April. The plants themselves do not yet exist, but the seeds contain the potential for a future bloom. In this way, the work brings two different temporalities into a shared arrangement.
